Overview

Emphasis is placed on developing oral language skills and providing integrated experiences in language and literacy, social-emotional development, math, physical development, the arts, social science, and English Language Development. The religion program continues the student's faith journey.

Math

With playful manipulatives, music, and rhymes, the number and math program teaches counting, comparisons, spatial awareness, patterning, sequencing, matching, sorting, problem solving, and even TK geometry skills

English Language Arts

English Language Arts

The program actively teaches syllables, names and sounds of letters, words linked to content, how to respond to simple questions, and how to have discussions and share ideas. The student will learn the many benefits of early reading and writing.

Religion

Religion

The student will continue their faith journey. They will learn Scripture stories that will tell them of God's love and connect these stories to the student's lives.

Science

Science

The student will learn to observe objects using the five senses and understand time, seasons, and the different types of plants and animals on earth. The students will be measuring, observing and predicting how materials will react and change.

Fine Arts

Fine Arts

TK students at St. Apollinaris enjoy a weekly music class where they learn to identify and perform a steady beat, different rhythms, and pitches. Lessons also incorporate aspects of Social, Emotional Learning and focus is on listening and the enjoyment of music.

Physical Education

Physical Education

Physical Education for our TK students develops gross motor skills and teaches them the importance of working as a team, exercising and eating healthy. Running, jumping, throwing, catching, kicking, dodging, and collaborative games fill the lessons.

Technology

Technology

TK students explore the basics of computer science so they will thrive in a constantly evolving technology environment. Students are introduced to computer science vocabulary and learn the understanding of hardware, software and internet connectivity through the use of iPads and chromebooks.
